aRTee
I just finished uploading my Mandrake 9.2 installation walkthrough. It is aimed especially at those who never installed Mandrake (or any kind of linux) and would like to see what it's like. Since most people are unsure about the diskpartitioning, I put plenty of screenshots of diskdrake. The page is about 500KB, mostly due to all the screenshots. Mandrake 9.2 installation walkthrough Enjoy! Feel free to post any comments about omissions, errors etc here.

scoopy
Sorry. I'm still being called a NOObie by this thing. I'm not neeeewwwww! dalek, the reference is only to your status with this board, and not to anything technical. With 40 some posts, you are still new to this forum. I believe you have already been offered the alternative: http://mandrake-forum.org/index.php?showto...00&st=1830&hl=# and, please..., let's stay on topic, which for this thread, is another great resource produced by aRTee. brucer425
Nice presentation! I just went thru all of that in the last 24 hrs, except the printer config. Seems like a pretty straighforward install process, so far. I went back to my XP partition to get my modem settings. Do I need 8bits, 1 stop bit and 1(or0) parity? LOL Been a while since I messed with hardware setups, as you can tell. I read that Mozilla is in the KDE package. Maybe I'll try to get that set up, since I use Firebird on the XP partition. Thanks again for a comprehensive and useful post! Al joker
al_chemyst
Over the weekend I was doing alot of research into my install problems. I was in Gnome and started looking thru the Mandrake Documentation tab, and found almost the exact same screenshots and walkthrough. Just goes to prove that 'if all else fails, read the documentation'. Anyway, your work is still excellent! :) Regards, Al
aRTee
Thanks for the positive replies, guys. al_chemyst, I knew there was something on the machine, but then you only get it after you manage to install, kind of moot imho... :P On my site I wish to inform those who have not dared to try yet, and the install walkthrough is for them, so they know what is coming at them. They get (hopefully) reminded that they have to have their ethernet / printer addresses handy and stuff... I think maybe I should add that the 9.2 install is the smoothest linux install I ever did. Those include: easylinux, corel, mandrake (from 7.something), RH7.3 (or was it 8? didn't live long on my machine..)... Hmm, should actually still try SuSE. No reason to have an opinion if it's not based on anything.. :D (Actually, my opinion of SuSE is not too negative, I have seen it in action, just never installed on my own machine.)
