OOo1.1 file associations?

if you mean that you have made custom menu/icon links for specific functions of OOo then likely you have made them wrong. the OOo menu links in most case do not carry over very well or a distros path to the shortcuts may not be correct.

you may wish to take a look at some of the build files for arch linux or gentoo to see how they fix the menu links for kde and gnome.

Peep......

what are you talking about, when you say DOCUMENTS? all documents you create or that are associated with OOo (like .stw .sxw .sti etc.)? or, are you talking about MSWord .doc files? i had a similar problem with MSWord files being opened with OOo as default. don't know if this will apply to your situation, but it might be worth a try if you haven't done this already.....

i use KDE & MDK9.1, but i'm GUESSING that Gnome has a similar feature.....

in KDE, you can set file associations in the KControl Center. go to where you can set file associations in Gnome & check for the following things.

1. make sure that all OOo file extensions (.stw .sxw etc.) are set to be opened by OOo by default.

2. do the same with any MSWord file extensions. if there are none listed, create them (.doc .rtf .xls etc.) & set them to use OOo as default.

3. (now this is where i don't know if it will apply for Gnome) see if all of those extensions also have a feature to open with an embedded viewer. in KDE, all of those were set to be opened by the default embedded viewer which was Konqueror's Netscape plugin. i added OOo as an embedded viewer & selected "use same program as extension" (or something similar to that wording....not in front of the Linix box right now) for embedded viewing.

if you've already tried those things & it still isn't working, then i'm stumped. :?

I have nothing useful to add, except that I have the same problem. I had it on 9.1, but I thought it was because I had put OOo1.1 in /opt, and gnome couldn't find it. But now I have 9.2 with the rpm of OOo1.1, which installs in /usr, and the file-association doesn't work.

When I have a bit of time, I'll check the gnome usergroups to see whether there is a solution.
