Guest iMonkey
Hi, I have recently installed Mandrake 9.1 on a new system which has a MSI 745 Ultra Series mainboard, and yes you guessed it an SiS 745 chipset with on-board sound. It all seems pritty standard, i.e. AC'97 codec. Usual connectors etc but that is all the details I have about it. HardDrake gives me two different drivers to choose from of which I have tried both with no success, in the boot.log I get this message: ... Oct 16 21:03:08 localhost alsa: succeeded Oct 16 21:03:09 localhost alsa: succeeded Oct 16 21:03:10 localhost modprobe: /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/ali5455.o.gz: Oct 16 21:03:10 localhost modprobe: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. Does anyone have any ideas why this is not working? or what I can do... I am as my status suggests a n00b so please be careful with me

Guest iMonkey
I have checked the BIOS and Plug and Play aware OS is disbaled and I have made sure that the sound card is active (while I was there :) ) I did run dmesg but cannot see anything relating to the sound card, instead of posting it to the msg board I have uploaded a txt file:  http://www.monkie.net/dmesg.txt
