Umax USB Scanner problems

Welcome IcoBgr, and good evening Sofia!

Because you got no answer yet, I'll try though I am quite new with Linux.

You might want to try:

- unplug your scanner

- in the MCC, software installation, search for

sane

xsane

-install the packages from your CD's

Shut down your PC.

Connect your scanner.

Start your Computer. When you are in KDE or Gnome wait ca. 30 seconds or a minute. A new icon should be automatically created on the desktop.

If nothing happens, try again in MCC - the scanner configuration. If it does not work, please post again - someone else here will guide you.

When it works, post it also.

Good luck!

Some cheaper scanners (like mine) don't have any on board flash, so have to load some data when they switch on. If your scanner is one of this type you will have to copy some files from the windows install CD and tell Linux where they are. To find out if this applies to you check out the Sane web-site:

I found 1200.usb file, but I do not know what to do with it.

The scanner was not listed in the devices list in MDC hardware - scannerDrake.

In HardDrake list there is a unknown device - USB scanner and when I select it in the panel at rigth is written:

Vendor: ?Unknown

Bus: ?USB

Description: ?USB Scanner

Module: ?unknown

Media class: ?Vendor Specific Class|Vendor Specific Subclass|Vendor Specific Protocol
