fuzzylizard
Does anyone know where the word count option is in OpenOffice.org. I have looked and looked for it and I can't find it. It is probably right under my nose, I just can't see it.
Counterspy
I just looked at all the options in the drop down menus and could not find it either. I suggest you go to the open office web site and see if they have a reference there. Counterspy
DOlson
It is probably right under my nose... No, but close. It's right under File > Properties > Statistics.
cardassianscot
File > Properties > Statistics is the OpenOffice.org word count but it has limitations. It will not tell you how many words are in the selected text only in the whole document. If you want word count to work as it does in word, then you need to download the word count macro from OOExtras . Here's a direct link http://ooextras.sourceforge.net/modules.ph...op=getit&lid=28 You need to copy and paste the macro into the macros editor (tools > macros). I then assign it to a button on my toolbar (tools > customize > toolbars > customize). If you need more detailed instructions I can provide them. fuzzylizard
Very cool, I now have a little button that tells me the word count for my document. Thank you.
Guest seven212
Stupid teachers and they're 300 word assignments, *yawn*.
fuzzylizard
300, must be nice. My papers are all 1500 - 2500 or more. (Usually about 10 - 20 pages) And in university they tend to be very sticky about the amount of words you do use. Very picky profs.
