Hi All

Just re installed 2009 one and tried to install Kaffeine but I keep getting this error :

1 installation transactions failed

There was a problem during the installation:

file /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/libxinepart.so conflicts between attempted installs of kaffeine-engine-xine-0.8.7-1plf2009.0.i586 and kaffeine-0.8.7-1mdv2009.0.i586

Also when I try to play a DVD with VLC it refuses to open when I open the DVD via open VLC>file >media >open disc I am not able to use menus etc.

Dragon player does not want to play DVDs nor does Totem. They will play in VLC but there are limited options

Is there a Multimedia how to anywhere ? Any advvice much apreciated

Thanks

Steve

Kaffeine is for KDE3- or actually there's also a version for KDE4, but it's horribly broken ATM.

Simply use vlc from plf (the one from the official repos is a crippo), and install libdvdcss2, libdvdread and libdvdnav as well.

Recent mplayer svn snapshots do support DVD menus as well, but not the unpatched last official release.
