Guest korinel
Hi, XFS seems to have died on my 9.0 machine. Whenever I boot I get the following message from X: Could not init font path element unix/:-1, removing from list! Fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed' It turns out that the problem is due to XFS. If I try run 'service xfs start' everything seems okay. However, if I run 'service xfs status' I get the report 'xfs dead but pid file exists. Annoyingly I haven't installed any fonts since the last reboot, which means I can't work out what's going on. There don't appear to be any corrupted files. The only major change to the system is that I removed a hard drive (/tmp). However, the new /tmp directory (part of root) seems to be running fine, so I can't see how that could affect it. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong, I'd be extremely grateful if they could e-mail me directly at k.l.mitchell@lancaster.ac.uk Cheers, -Karl
