yossarian
Hi all, I'm using MDV 2009.0 with Gnome 2.24. I decided to try some other desktop environments. I installed icewm, awesome, dwm, evilwm, pekwm and wmii. None of them works. After logging out and changing to another window manager (other than Gnome, that is), and then logging in, I get the following message: Your session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself, this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of diskapce. Try logging in with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem. Then I am thrown back to the login screen. Sometimes I don't even get this message, just get back to the login screen Again, I have no problem logging in with Gnome, only with the other window managers, and in ~/.xsession-errors I didn't find anything related to wmii (only Gnome ,compiz and Firefox). Does anyone know where to start? Thanks. Edited January 4, 2009 by yossarian
yossarian
Silly, silly me. I didn't disable compiz before trying to run the other window managers. Sorry.
Greg2
So does this also fix the problem with wmii? I ask because you were going to submit a bug report, and if you did please make a comment in the report. :)
yossarian
Yes, it does. And I've just updated the report, closed the activity and added a comment saying it was my fault. But it's nice to see someone reads my messages. :)
