static
<shrug> There needs to be a CD in them to mount them...! What error do you get?
Riddler
mount /mnt/cdrom mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom does not exist
Riddler
mount /dev/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom mount: you must specify the filesystem type
Gowator
Do yuo have a /dev/cdrom ? ls -l /dev/cdrom* The mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom should work IF 1) a directory /mnt/cdrom exists 2) /dev/cdrom exists (a link) 3) You are root You can only mount as user if its in the fstab and with -o user
jlc
Did you try: # mount /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom
iphitus
Easy one! I 've had this problem there is no directory called /mnt/cdrom to mount the disk in simply as root mkdir /mnt/cdrom0 mkdir /mnt/cdrom1 mkdir /mnt/zip James
Riddler
got cdrom to work i'm assuming the burner works also but the zip drive is still giving me the must specify filetype error any ideas from looking at my fstab
pmpatrick
Try running the following as root with a zip disk inserted in the drive: # mount -t vfat /dev/sda4 /mnt/zip
Riddler
mount: special device /dev/sda4 does not exist tried replacing sd4 with zipdrive mount: special device /dev/zipdrive does not exist got this
pmpatrick
Zip drives run under scsi emulation and they are assigned sda4 on every system I've ever seen. Are you loading the scsi modules necessary for scsi emulation? /dev/zipdrive is probably a link; see what device file it links to.
