jlc
I never saw this post. This is what was posted on gentoo's forum when I was using it. Here's a hot tip for all those Gentooers that want to find their fellows online... Emerge 'xqf' (stands for XQuakeFinder, I think). It's a multi-game finding tool (works with ET, RTCW, Quake, UT, many, many others). The neat thing is... you can set up a player filter to show only those players who have 'gentoo' in the name. It's a great way to find fellow Gentooers who are already in a game. Here's how: 0. emerge enemy-territory (because it's what most of us have been playing, and it's free) 1. emerge xqf 2. Make sure you have the Enemy Territory master server listed in the 'Source' frame. It should pop in automatically, assuming ET is installed. 3. Go to Preferences->Games->Enemy Territory->Options, and make sure the 'Protocol' is set to '82'. Otherwise, you'll get a very short list. 4. Go to Server Filters->Player Filter. Click 'New', type 'gentoo' into the text box, and and select 'substring'. (Optionally, select a color for the filter. If you have multiple filters, the color can help visually differentiate which filter a server belogs to.) 5. Update the server list for Enemy Territory and select 'P Filter'. 6. Frag your fellow Gentooers online! More info can be found at http://www.linuxgames.com/xqf/ Thanks to daSilVetZ for turning me on to the tool, and for showing me the correct protocol setting! Also, the #gentoo-clan IRC channel is pretty active (well, relatively speaking), so come check it out! Obviously you wont do emerge for all distro's, but you get the jist of it. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=7...ht=xqf&start=75 SOrry I was late. jlc
Along with that, we should all agree on using something like [us/musb] cybrjackle [nz/musb] terminaladdict Something like that and all you would have to search for is "musb" or the uid if you know them.
