Chris H
2008 updated. Finally installed Gnome on this fresh installation. Still using the KDM login manager. Once logged into Gnome there's no facility for shutting down. Two options where there used to be several - lock or logout. Once logged out I can cick on the green shutdown button which bring me to another KDE screen whcih gives me the option of shutdown. Seems long winded way to do things and I'm sure it's not correct. Maybe using the GDM would sort things out?
ianw1974
Yes, if you use gnome, use gdm as the login manager, else you don't have the options you want.
