kilimanjaro
I am trying to install new softwear, and I get a message "unable to take medium "update_source" into account as no list file [/var/lib/urpmi/list.update_source] exists" "no package named remind exists" when I type "urpmi remind" as root I have installed softwear this way before (gnutella, guarddog, gnupg). I have had the same thing happen on 5 different pieces of softwear (angband, remind, twclock, tkweather, oneko). Do I need to do something different. I tried updating the rpm db, it didn't help. :?:
bvc
Try updating Mandrake Update in MCC>Software Mgr (or something)>Sources Manager, and make sure your update_source is checked off to be used.
Cannonfodder
If all else fails, try removing all sources and readding them. Check the FAQ area for info on this process..
kilimanjaro
I tried mandrake update and it says they are installed when I am using a terminal, but it doesn't list them in install or remove software daemons (right word?), and I cant run them. Guest anon
To check if remind is installed, try this: rpm -qa | grep -i remind If you want to try adding a new update source, here's a good list of mirrors and a tool to make adding new sources easy, real easy :) http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/urpmiweb.php
kilimanjaro
I tried "rpm -qa | grep -i remind" all it did was give me another promt for root and I have plf as an update source.
Guest anon
Then we know that remind is not installed. Have you tried removing the PLF source and adding a different PLF mirror site? It might be that the server for your source is down.
bvc
You didn't Sources Manager, and make sure your update_source is checked off to be used. And tell it to update the sources. Don't run MU as you already have but rather update the MU source...or change its source.
Guest anon
OK, first off, remind, and some of the other apps you mentioned are not on PLF, I checked our own d-load site and they don't exist. It seems those apps are not mandrake, so they will not be on any PLF mirror, PLF only deals with MDK stuff. I did find the remind app for redhat, which may work, but you need to change your update source.
kilimanjaro
I don't know if remind is on plf or not. I said I had plf as an update source, I didn't say that was where I got the softwear. I hace contrid, texstar, and plf as update sources.
