ATI RAGE IIC, Americas Army and GLX

OKay I just thought I'd install Americas Army because I had it on DVD and I'm trying to get other people into Linux and I didn't have any games in 3D to show them.

So it installed lovely (nice to see a real installer) and then I went to run I get

Couldn't find matching GLX visual

I did loads of searching and found that after running glxinfo that my card wasn't running in Direct Rendering mode...

I added the load dri option to my Xfree86-4 config file and added a section for the dri mode. Nothing has changed though after restarting X.

There seems to be heaps of information about ATI radeons but not about the IIC...

Can anybody point me towards info for the IIC or maybe what I'm doing wrong?

This is the section on my card....

Section "Device"

   Identifier "device1"

   VendorName "ATI"

BoardName "ATI Mach64 3D Rage IIC"

   Driver "ati"

   Option "DPMS"

EndSection

Hmmm.....

The Rage IIC simply isn`t supported,

only the Rage Pro revs of the mach64 chipset are.  The Rage IIC doesn`t

have the triangle setup engine needed to render 3D primitives

... looks like it's just a rubbish graphics card...

Cheers, but as I'm on dial up I don't really have any easy way of getting it... I bought the Linux Format UK July DVD edition which had the full AA on it... However there are two Mandrake boxes in my flat and one of them is mine with a nice garphics card and proper set up but no connection to the internet, the other is the flats internet computer with rubbish bits that's just used for email etc... As AA required internet connection to register I set up the wrong machine....

However, I did learn enough to properly install my nvidia drivers and get Tux on my computer so not a waste in the end...
