iphitus
Hi Occasionally i turn on Apache to share files with friends or test a website and i have had some problems with it. It works fine when i go to http://localhost/ but when i type in http://000.00/00.00/ (real IP not used) I get Problem ReportThere was a communication problem. Message ID TCP_ERROR Problem Description The system was unable to communicate with the server. Possible Problem Cause * The Web server may be down. * The Web server may be too busy. * The Web server may be experiencing other problems, preventing it from responding to clients. * The communication path may be experiencing problems. Possible Solution Try connecting to this server later. It isn't my firewall, the same error comes up when it's disabled. Is my ISP blocking it? I'm not meant to use servers on this internet connection. It's against the Acceptable Use Policy. I'd still like to use it occasionaly though, it's not like i'm hosting some massive website. Steve Scrimpshire
It could be that the ISP is blocking port 80. If you use Webmin to configure Apache, there is a setting to change the default port Apache listens on. Then you should be able to do http://ip.ip.ip.ip:<<port#>> Just the port number, not <<port#>>... :o
