Guest f0r3nzIc
Hi, Would be grateful if anyone can help. I am using Mandrake release 9.0. Recently a user ("quality") was deleted through webmin. Now in the /home folder, the /home/quality is replaced with a file /home/quality.lock . There are some files in the user's home folder that I require, can anyone please tell me how I can recover/retrieve the required files? Thanks in advance Edited July 18, 2008 by f0r3nzIc
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
Do: Alt & F2 then type: kdesu konqueror and click run. Enter your root password. This will launch your file manager as root, you can now browse any folder(s) and read any file(s). Please pay close attention to what you are doing whilst in root mode. Reiver_Fluffi
I would be more inclined to change the the owner to the users regular account: su -c "chown user -vR /home/quality.lock" Replacing "user" with the O/P's username, then the user is able to browse the folder without needing to maintain root privileges.
