Guest Graeme43
Hi, i have the SuSE 8.2 Live Eval CD and was trying it out to see if i got sound ( yep :D ) But when i try to install a .rpm by doubleclicking it ( dont know how else ) I get this : <home/graeme43/Desktop/amsn-0.71-1.noarch.rpm';echo RESULT=$? failed to open /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm: Read-only file system error: cannot open /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm RESULT=1  PS: does anyone know where to get a non live eval of SuSE? :(
shen
That's because the Suse 8.2 live eval cd will only run what's on the cd. It does not allow you to install or change any packages/software. It creates a simple config file on your hd of hardware info and that's it doesn't install anything else to the hd. It's intended for evaluation not as a day to day setup.
