installing themes

hey there, i've got two questions..

first.. i want to change the theme of my mandriva, so i've downloaded a theme from kde-look.org (for kde 3.5) but when i tried to set it up with the KCC it couldn't find any theme files...

the second question is when i change the style of the clock, or the view of the desktops (from one lined to two lined), or change the Konsole after a restart of my machine it all comes back to default...

and while writing all these my mind came with another question.. i've downloaded sources to urmpi, and i did update to them.. but sometimes when i try to download some package it shows me an error and suggests my to update... any ideas?
