phunni
OK - I've pretty much got CVS figured out , except for one very key question: How do you switch you working directory between branches and the main tree? Once I've switched to a branch the only way I can get back to the main branch is to delete my working directory and re-check it out. I'm sure there is an easier way than this. Simply re-checking out without first deleting does not seem to make a difference Someon please help!
aru
I've started to learn howto use cvs last week when I moved my website to a cvs system (just for fun). So I guess that my input here wont be helpful, so please wait for the input of someone else who uses cvs in daily basis ;) Meanwhile you can check the related info node (accessing cvs branches): ~$ info --index-search=accessing cvs for what says it, seems that you don't need to delete your working directory in order to switch between branches HTH
phunni
Meanwhile you can check the related info node (accessing cvs branches): ~$ info --index-search=accessing cvs HTH This is exactly the same as the CVS docs - I have this section printed out and sitting next to me - I've been reading and re-reading this. Once you have a working copy tied to a particular branch, it remainsthere until you tell it otherwise. This means that changes checked in from the working copy will add new revisions on that branch, while leaving the main trunk and other branches unaffected. Unfortunately - I can't figure out how to "tell it otherwise"
phunni
Come on - I can't believe no-one here uses CVS and can answer this question! The thing is - I bet the answer is really simple as well! :)
