Mandrake 9.1 won't shut down

Gang-

I have a Dell Latitude C640 running Mandrake 9.1 on it. Recently, when I choose to turn the computer off via the KDE interface, the screen goes black, but it does not shut off. I have to manually turn the power off, which then prompts me to run a disk integrity check when I turn the laptop back on.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Thanks!

Whoops...

How can I access the power options via the Mandrake control center to verify my settings?

I don't know that you'll find anything in mcc to tell you which you're using, but you can look at /var/log/messages, it should tell you. Keep in mind though that the kernel loads the first it finds, so when the kernel loads apm it could still mean that you need acpi in order for things to work right or vice versa. You really need to read a manual or search google or something to really know for sure.
