pdf viewer [solved]

this has happened a couple of times - the latest with the 'linux bible' 2007 edition -

i download a pdf file - open it - and the thumbnails view on the lefthand side shows

some blank pages ...

as you click through the pdf , the pages shown as blank in the thumbnails show as text

in the main window - but only for a split-second , then the content disappears

.. i.e. although the thumbnail is empty - there is actually something there

would this be because of a fault in the pdf viewer , or has the pdf file itself been

improperly put together ?

anyone had experience of this behaviour ?

thanks

From reading your other thread, I see that you're using Mandrake 10.2. I had experienced some of those same problems when I was using the older pdf readers that came with Mandrake 10.1 and 10.2.

I believe that it would be best (and easiest) for you to go to the Adobe site:

adobe.com/support/downloads

Then d/l and install the 'Adobe reader for Linux and Solaris rpm'. You should be able to view your Linux Bible without any problems using that.

yes, that did the trick - i've now got 'adobe reader 8' on my desktop

it opens up twice as fast as ghostview

( i've deleted about a dozen pdf's over the past year thinking they were corrupt files !)

thanks for the help, Greg2
