Mandrake 9.1 and Speedtouch USB

I have recently installed the new Mandrake 9.1, I previously used redhat 7.1 .

And I have to say that I am pretty impressed with mandrake so far.

However, I am having A LOT of trouble of getting my Speedtouch USB ADSL modem (the green manta ray thing) to work.

According to mandrake it should support this modem.

I finally found the microcode, only to find that I still could not connect.

I have tried nearly every how-to and tutorial on the net with various different drivers.

I am near desperation here, even the information I got on this forum didn’t work for me.

I don’t know where the problem lies, Mandrake detects my modem and all the green lights on the modem are on.

I don’t get any error messages, only that drakconnect cannot connect to the internet.

Does anyone have a solution for me that works?

Ok I ahev a speedtouc usb myself..in teh previous versions of Mandrake I had to uinstall it partly manual, but from 9.1 I can say it went fully automatic....First try you firewall(shorewall) before we go any further...In manderake control center...go to System->DrakXServices and stop shorewall...if this doesn't work(to be sure...), type (as root) shorewall clear.

THEN, try to connect to the internet..if it works it's teh firewall blocking the traffic...I can give you the necessary files(normally it shoudl work) to make it run more(:)) normal..btu first check this please...
