Guest Mandrake Pupil Posted March 24, 2008 Report Share Posted March 24, 2008 Hello everyone, I'm a totally beginner for Linux, and feel so anxious to install this OS to my laptop. I've already succeeded finish installation of Mandriva 2008 from LiveCd, marked with congratulation! by the Mandriva installer. But when i was going to execute the " startx " , the x window failed to show up and there is a comment in the prompt. I should warn you that I am not an expert on Mandriva by any means, but one thing you might try is this. urpmi x11-driver-video-intel Which should make sure that the drivers required by your graphics card are installed, then try a reboot. Of course if your terminal session doesn't have an internet connection then this is not going to work and I probably can't help you, but I am sure somebody will be able to before too long. Good Luck. Edit If that doesn't work try running XFdrake in your terminal session and see if that allows you to configure it to a working condition.
