Hello everyone,

I'm a totally beginner for Linux, and feel so anxious to install this OS to my laptop. I've already succeeded finish installation of Mandriva 2008 from LiveCd, marked with congratulation! by the Mandriva installer.

But when i was going to execute the " startx " , the x window failed to show up and there is a comment in the prompt.

The Linux prompt report showed me below information:

(WW) intel: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:2:1) found

(II) Module already built in

(II) Module already built in

( /usr/lib/dri/i965-dri.so : cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

The Xkeyboard keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

>Warning: Type "ONE_LEVELS" has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols

> Ignoring extra symbols

Error from xkbcomp are not fatal to x server

Sypnatic DeviceInit called

Sypnatics DeviceOff called

My comp spec comes as follows:

Computer Brand : Toshiba, Satellite L200

Bios version : 1.90

Processor : Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU T2330 @ 1.60GHZ (2 CPUs)

Memory : 1014MB RAM

DirectX version : Direct 9.0c

Graphic : Mobile Intel® 965 Chipset,approx. Total memory: 256.0 MB,

Graphic main driver : igxprd32.dll , version: 6.14.0010.4833

Kindly need your advice to guide me to enable open the x window.

Thanks in advance for your great support.

Regards,

Hi Mandrake Pupil, welcome to the forum. I should warn you that I am not an expert on Mandriva by any means, but one thing you might try is this.

urpmi x11-driver-video-intel

Which should make sure that the drivers required by your graphics card are installed, then try a reboot.

Of course if your terminal session doesn't have an internet connection then this is not going to work and I probably can't help you, but I am sure somebody will be able to before too long.

Good Luck.

Edit If that doesn't work try running

XFdrake

in your terminal session and see if that allows you to configure it to a working condition.
