sound card - mixer issue *edited 3/18/08*

I am trying to get mic input working so I can use Ventrilo for gaming. I set everything up like all the tutorials say, but my mic will not pick up sound. The in-line on/off switch is set to on and the in-line volume is all the way up.

When I run "winecfg" I get this message:

fixme:spoolsv:serv_main (0 (nil))

err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element

err:alsa:ALSA_CheckSetVolume Could not find 'PCM Playback Volume' element

fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on CA0106, disabling mixer

I assume that it is not just a wine conflict, but actually a problem with the configuration of my soundcard. If this is incorrect, please tell me.

Please help! :)

Many thanks in advance.

I have narrowed down the problem. Apparently there is no mixer assigned to my sound card.

Here is a screenshot:

How would I go about finding the right mixer and then installing it?
