Well, I edited my entry to reflect yours, and it boots into slack just fine now. Thanks a million! Now I just need to get these damn imported fonts to work...

 

BTW, the vga=788, does that give the graphical boot-up screen? Because, without that in my slackware entry, I get a plain black background instead of the fancy-looking one while the initialization stuff loads.

The plain black background is all you're gonna get in slack. Well, I'm sure some color modifications can be made to console mode but you won't have the frame buffer support with an image until you apply patches and compile the kernel for it. You could try the vga setting if you want to see if you can get a higher resolution/ smaller text. I never tried it.
