Hey guys,

How do I update my kde in mdk 9.0 to kde 3.1.1?

I remember seeing a walk through about this before but I can't seem to find it!

Thanks guys :)

First download all the 3.1.1 rpms, and dependacies in to the same directory on your hard drive. Then add that directory as a local repositary for urpmi. Fire up the package installer and install KDE.

If you can find an site with urmpi enable you could just add that instead. But I would recommend downloading them manually.

A lot of people use Texstar's rpms. Here's the download site for for both 9.0 and 9.1 - http://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distribut...tions/mandrake/

I always install the individual packages and I would recommend staying away from devel rpms unless you think you really need them.

There also rpms avaliable on Cooker:
Cooker rpms are very unstable and should not be used. Texstar rpms are the ones that u need since they are compiled for LM9.0/9.1.

where do you think he gets his srpms
If u mean texstar, he may get SRPMS from cooker but he adds his own fixes. Most important, he rebuilds them on stock LM9.0 and LM9.1 to make them binary compatible (very important). He also tests them on these stable distros to see if they work well. In fact, his response to critical bugs is really fast and good. All u have to do is post in http://www.pclinuxonline.com/modules.php?m...ewforum&forum=7

Thanks to him, I enjoyed stable kde-3.1 on LM9.0.

enables ftp access again

What isp is this (want to know so i and my friends can stay as far away as possible from them)

Interquest.net most horrible isp ever.

Basically, we can't get any DSL or anythign like that in our apartment complex yet, so they came and offered T1 internet. Saying we can get speeds up to 1.5Mbs/s

Ok fine enough, well it got pretty slow, adn they now tell me that they had to limit anything other than http and smtp because of high bandwidth usage.

So essentially, ftp is maxing out at 1kb/s, I can't play warcraft III or any other games, and Even web access is slow. I do however get like only 30kb/s in kazaa :-/

I wrote a letter complaining aqbout the service and the price, and they told me "You already pay $20 less than any of our other properties".

I know there is something wrong here, but what can i do? Soon i am re installing my modem for warcraft iii, because it ran faster on dialup

The worst part is, mostly i get like .18kb/s in ftp, so I have trouble

a) telneting into school accounts

B) ftping into school accounts to upload my homework assignments

c) ftping into work since i work from home

d) ftping into my website

They basically told me "oh well, the complex uses too much bandwidth so we have to limit all protocols other than http and email"

I wisth there was somethign I could do

there is something you can do. complain to tthe FTC and try to get those sorry bastards out of business, or my personal favorite (since i'm usually too lazy to do the real thing) threaten to do that in a letter to the company.
