Guest ramazz
xfree won't start after I install and configure this driver in mandrake 9.1 It gives me an error that it can't find the device. Do I have to change the config files or something?? .. update.. seems to be an agp issue.. maybe. I get an error that it can't detect aperture size. I try to manually load agpgart and still get the error, ... doesn't look like an ati driver issue but an agp/chipset driver issue. doh still looking for some sort of insight though as I have found other people on the net with the same problem. I'm using an Asus a7v8x-x motherboard with latest beta bios 1005.004 and an ati radeon 9500 pro
Guest dusty1000
Hmm, have you tried 'fglrxconfig' in a root shell ? You have to create a ney XF86Config-4 file with that script.
Guest ramazz
I already found out that agpgart on 2.4 kernels doesn't support agp 3 chipsets. I'll either have to upgrade to a 2.5 kernel or wait for the next patched 2.4kernel or agpgart... doh, guess I'm stickin with the basic radeon driver for now :-(
Guest dusty1000
agp3 backport already exists ! see http://lists.insecure.org/lists/linux-kern...4/agp3.diff.bz2
Guest ramazz
I dug through the message board and the last thing I found was that changes needed to be made to it in order to work with the latest ati drivers http://lists.insecure.org/lists/linux-kern...3/Feb/5407.html
