Guest mrk112
Hi I've just got a Lenovo Thinkpad R61i, wiped the hard drive and installed Mandriva 2008.0 PowerPack.. How do I get my function keys working? For example, the volume keys, etc. After a bit of searching I thought I could just install a package called kmilo but the only one that comes up is for KDE4.. Thanks..
willie
Search in MCC/software for TPB (ThinkPadButtons) install it. You can edit de file /etc/tpbrc. You also need to edit /etc/security/console.perms.d/50-mandriva.perms to set the rights of Nvram right. There is a line that must look like like <console> 0600 <misc> 0660 root.nvram and make a group called nvram
Guest mrk112
Thanks for the reply.. In the 50-mandriva-perms file I've got the line: <console> 0400 <misc> 0600 root Do I need to edit that line or create a new line (which will mean that I'll have 2 <misc>'s)? When I'm creating the nvram group, is the following ok: groupadd nvram useradd root nvram useradd mark nvram
willie
n the 50-mandriva-perms file I've got the line: <console> 0400 <misc> 0600 root Do I need to edit that line or create a new line (which will mean that I'll have 2 <misc>'s)? Just edit the line in the example i gave. How you added a new group with the cli i don't now (still not after 5 years of using Mandriva ) i use MCC to do that. You need to added the group nvram no users needed, with no group nvram you get een error while booting Mandriva that's all. With the nvram group the error is gone Edited December 23, 2007 by willie
