hey. I installed mandriva one live cd to my computer, and it just sits at a text-mode login prompt, logging in as root doesn't work, and it didn't ask to set up a user account when i installed.

what now?

Sounds like you missed some configuration options during install, or that the video card configuration is wrong. I would suggest, either attempting to reinstall again and make sure you ensure it's fully configured, and maybe choose VESA as your video card in case the driver you chose was wrong.

Alternatively, once logged in as root, type:

XFdrake

to reconfigure the Display settings to vesa, then type:

reboot

to restart and see if it makes it any better. If not, reinstall and try again paying attention to the options for the install.
