Cannot change options in OpenOffice 2.2.1

I have just installed Mandriva Free 2008. I like dark themes and installed my favorite one. Using 2007, I was able to go into the Options menu in OpenOffice to change the page color from black to white, or something else. With 2008, I go to Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org and try to click on Appearance (or anything else in the list) OpenOffice freezes and I have to force quit. I tried removing it and re-installing, but there is no change. Any ideas?
