IcoBgr
Hi people, I do not know are anybody else has the same problem, but on my father's computer I get strange action when printing some thing. I have made a new fresh install of Mandriva 2008 on this computer. It has printer HP 1010 USB connected on it. The problem is that when I send something to print it is printed after 8 minutes. So, what can be the problem for this big delay of printing? Some suggestions? regards Hristo [moved from Software by spinynorman]
scarecrow
Bad host definition, and/or ipv6 enabled. Some info needed. First cat /etc/hosts and then lsmod | grep ipv6 Please pass the output of both.
IcoBgr
Sorry that I'm late. Here are the results: [root@localhost simeon]# cat /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost [root@localhost simeon]# lsmod | grep ipv6 ipv6 249988 33 nf_conntrack_h323 Also I have enabled the firewall. Only ssh, ping, ftp, 5900 and 1720 ports are allowed. CUPS is not checked to connect to the Internet. Window manager is KDE. P.S. With recommended driver when I sent to print the test page in drakprint after 5 minutes the printer start to flash that it will print, and after another 5 minutes it start to print. With other drivers I get 20 minutes. Edited November 20, 2007 by IcoBgr

tyme
see if you can follow the instructions here regarding disabling ipv6. Also, this thread may be useful. Give that a try, let us know if you have any questions or if it helps your issue :)
scarecrow
Disabling ipv6 is the obvious first step, which should be done... But other than that, this particular printer has issues in many systems using the HP driver. Wokarounds are available, but let's see first if it works as-it-is with ipv6 disabled... IcoBgr
Ok people. This do not help with the problem. But this night there was some updates of glibc and cups and some more packages. After I updated them the printing now is OK. So, the problem is solved.
