Guest cheshirex
I'm running Metacity under Gnome on Mandriva 2007.1 (I had the same problem under 2007.0 as well). Whenever an application signals for attention, it jumps to my current workspace (e.g., if I click a URL in my mail program, Firefox will jump from workspace 4 to workspace 1 -- or when Notes displays an alarm, it'll jump from workspace 1 to wherever else I happen to be at the time). This is happening on two separate machines. I figure there has to be an option somewhere to control this, but cannot, for the life of me, find it. Is there any way to make the apps stay on their current workspace? Does anyone know? Thanks! [moved from Software by spinynorman]
darkscot
I don't use Gnome so I am probably not much help but have you tried running gconf-editor and looking for a setting in there?

Yes, I've checked through there. Nothing in the metacity settings seems to affect this.
