Urza9814
So, after looking around for nice, cheap, linux compatible laser printers, I decided on the Brother HL-2040 after reading a review saying it worked great on linux. So, I plugged it in, Mandriva picked it up immedatly, but didn't have the drivers for it. Downloaded the driver and CUPS wrapper from their website, both installed fine. Problem is, when I go to the CUPS administration page, it says 'HL2040 "Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."'. Also, whenever I try to change the settings, it brings up a password promt, and I have tried both my username and password and root with my root password, neither of which are accepted. The printer is currently connected via USB and set to auto-detect the port.(though specifically choosing a port through webmin didn't seem to work either) edit: rebooted, now the error on CUPS is: 'HL2040 "/usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperHL2040 failed"' HAH! It LIVES! Had to reset permissions of /usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperHL2040. Edited May 31, 2007 by Urza9814
