Guest Bigsky30
http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/download_ati.html Haven't tried these yet but anxious to give it a go when I get home. Try them! Im anxious to see improvements to the built in drivers as well as the ability to leave my TV-out connected without causing the dreaded "No valid modes for this DFP/LCD"
Guest ndeb
Check out the official ATI site: http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/linux/r...ee&cmdNext=Next It has fglrx-glc22-4.2.0-2.5.1.i586.rpm, an earlier version (v2.5.1) of what http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/download_ati.html is providing (v2.9.6). Surprisingly, the ATI site does not have the latest driver anywhere. Has ATI stopped developing linux drivers ?
Guest Bigsky30
Update: the 2.96 drivers work well in Mandrake 9.1! I did a forced install of the RPM then had to run the included make.sh script to compile a binary for the kernel. Ran the "fglrxconfig" to generate a new XF86Config-4 file. Edit it to change the PCI ID from 1:0:1 to 1:0:0. Reboot and it worked! Im using a Sapphire Radeon9000 Pro
Guest ndeb
Reboot and it worked! Why is there a need to reboot ? Restarting X should be enough.
Guest Bigsky30
After some further research I found that I didnt unload the 'radeon' module before loading the 'fglrx' module. So evidently the module didnt load, restarting X didnt work for me.

Then run as root: modprobe -vr radeon
