Guest sub_netter
Hello. Seam to be having a wee bit of difficulty setting up sound on my P1 box. Not as glamourous as some of the hardware that MDK 9.0 supports, but very standard equipment that I beleive should be supported. My sound is onboard. It is a: SoundBlaster Creative Vibra16c PnP. Or atleast that is what Knoppix(which does auto-configure my sound) tells me it is. Admittedly, I am a Linux n00bie, so please be kind. I have found this forum very helpful so far and want to thank you guysgals for helping out. Hope I can give back some day! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, netter
Counterspy
You may have to search using the info from my post in Installing Mandrake but you want to get sndconfig and isapnptools, probably on CD3 and use it to configure your card. Guest sub_netter
Thanks. Got those packages you mentioned and both were installed no-prob by KPackage. sndconfig had two dependancies which I installed without dependancies. So, what now. netter
Counterspy
Run sndconfig from a console as root. You should get a screen in which you can test your card. It is the voice of Linux Torvalds pronouncing "Linux" . If your card supports midi you should be able to test it with a sound. If Linus or both work, you're done. Make sure the volume is turned up in the kmix program. Counterspy
