audio problem [solved]

So here's an interesting (and hopefully quite simple) problem: my audio only works as root. As root it'll work fine...plays from amarok, plays from VirtualBox, plays from anything. When I try to configure the KDE sound system, I get the following error: 'device: default can't be opened for playback (Permission denied)'

Now it seems to me that this should be fairly easy to fix...but I can't seem to figure out how.

finally got around to trying that. Obviously sound is not a high priority to me :P It required a full reboot, not just a logout, but that was indeed the problem. Then of course I had to mess with the mixer, but yea, seems to be working now. Thanks :)
