Guest gwayne
Ok, MD 9.1 with all patches installed. Installed TightVNC 1.2.7-2 and fired it on. Then I found out that KDE 3.1 doesnt start fully. Has some one else this problem ? I am working on the problem, but I am curious if I am the only one. Ok I seem to have found the cause Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":1.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":1.0". Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":1.0". mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding *** kdesktop (15258) got signal 11 Mmmm, VNC does not support GLX and kde or one of the starting programs doesnt run without it. Has someone a solution or a alternative ? Greets
MottS
Hi gwayne You should not need to install TightVNC with KDE 3.1 since this program was embedded in KDE. I'm in Gentoo right now (but running KDE 3.1 so it's pretty much like Mandrake). I can start a VNC viewer from the K menu. Now if I open up the KDE control center and go 'Internet & Network' and 'Desktop Sharing', I can create an invitation so that someone else take the control of my desktop. What are you trying to acheive exactly? HTH MOttS
illogic-al
i have tightvnc and kde 3.1 installed and have no problems. care to post more of the error. where exactly does it happen. starting X from a console or once you're logged in to kde (i know you said doesn't start fully but that could just mean klipper doesn't start up or ksplash doesn't go away). Guest gwayne
MMmm, ok can somefile tell me why kio_file and kio_devices spawn like crazy when I use tightvnc ? It also seems to be connected with klauncher.
Guest gwayne
MMmm, ok can somefile tell me why kio_file and kio_devices spawn like crazy when I use tightvnc ? It also seems to be connected with klauncher. I get when I start vncserver lotsa kio_files en kio_devices spawning. I wonder if it is a problem with the authentication. But it seems that the splash screen also doesn't appear. Gwayne, Mike

Guest gwayne
 thanks gizzmo, it helped a lot. It seems that the problem lives in the libqt3 I replaced them with those from textar. And now it al works..
