zibi1981
Every time I type an URL into address bar and press [Enter], I'm not directly taken to the desired web page, but to a result of a Google search query. For example when I type www.interia.pl, I got this. If I turn off "web shortcuts", I'm not able to use a shortcut to Google, and I have to type whole URLs, along with "http://". How to make Konqueror work similar to Opera, where simply typing www.interia.pl or similar takes me to the desired web page? spinynorman
It looks as if you've used the Search box, which is usually to the right of the Location box... Have you lost the Location box somehow?
zibi1981
No, I have both of them, the search box along with addres bar, one beside another. The funny thing is both of them work the same way. I even don't have to type "gg:" in the location box to get directed to Google search query. spinynorman
You could try this: Go into Settings - Configure Toolbars - select the Location Toolbar. You should have the following current actions: Clear Location Bar - Location: - Location Bar - Go. If yours are different, make them the same. If they're already the same, I suggest you remove the Location bar from current actions, and apply the change. Then reinstate Location Bar in current actions and apply again. Perhaps that will help...
zibi1981
Hi again spinynorman :) My Location Toolbar looks precisely, as You described. In Settings - Configure Toolbars - Location Toolbar I have four items. I removed the Location Bar and then add it again, as You suggested, but that didn't help  There's another funny thing - in Settings - Configure Toolbars - Location Toolbar I don't see a Search Toolbar, which I obviously have one the right side of the bar... P.S. Another fast question. If You're login in to Your e-mail account, do You have to type Your password twice in Konqueror? I do. How to change that? spinynorman
See this page on Automatic Text Completion from the Konqueror manual. Try some different settings. What sort of email account are you accessing through Konqueror?
zibi1981
When it comes to text completion, all is working fine. I use a Dropdown List. So if I type i.e. www.int(...), I got several suggestions, and If I chose one, it takes me do the right web page. But my problem lies elsewhere, because I'm not taken to www.interia.pl i.e. when I type so in the Location Bar. I had to type the whole URL (http://www.interia.pl/), and when I don't, I'm directed to Google search query... P.S. I was writing about my hotmail account. spinynorman
When it comes to text completion, all is working fine. I use a Dropdown List. Try using the Automatic setting to see if that applies the http prefix... If hotmail is the only place you're prompted twice, it may be a feature of hotmail. I don't use it - perhaps someone else has had this problem. Edit: If the second hotmail prompt appears on a different page from the first, that suggests that you don't have cookies enabled. spinynorman
Now I'm home, I've checked my settings: Dropdown List & Automatic. Give it a try...
zibi1981
I will, as soon as I'll be back home :P For now I can tell that the "Automatic" setting alone didn't help me with this problem. Is there a possibilty to check both, Dropdown List & Automatic? P.S. When it comes to my hotmail account, after I type my password and press [Enter] the page refreshes, and then I see the same page with an error message, that my username or password is invalid. When I retype my password and press [Enter] again, I can log in. I checked this many times, so I'm sure it's not that I'm typing invalid password... spinynorman
Is there a possibilty to check both, Dropdown List & Automatic? Yes. As to the hotmail problem - does this happen with Firefox or other browsers?
zibi1981
As to the hotmail problem - does this happen with Firefox or other browsers? As far as I remember it only happens with Konqueror. I also use Opera, which is my favourite browser, but not Firefox.

AussieJohn
Am I missing something here???. Doesn't a web address correctly start with http:// as in http://www.thediscshop.com.au ???. Cheers. John.
zibi1981
It does John, but Opera i.e. fills http:// automatically for me. Konqueror doesn't, and that's the problem. In Opera I would have to type just www.thediscshop.com.au and then press [Enter], to get directed to the web page. In Konqueror I have to type the whole address, because if I don't include http://, I will see Google search query on "www.thediscshop.com.au".
