Half-Life, Mandrake 9.1

OK, I have tried everything I know, and I can't make it work.

So, if anybody can get Half-Life to work (in open-gl) with wine, or the

FREE winex, please post here so I can learn how to do it.

Thank you. :(

Up until Mandrake 9.1, I would have gladdly provided assistance, but even with WineX 3.0, I can't even get WineX to work properly, yet alone get HL/CS/Op4 installed and working again. Apparently Ghost Recon/Spearhead are working WineX 3.0, but I can't even make an attempt at that one. The only recommendation I can make from what I have been reading is rolling back from Glibc 2.3 to Glibc 2.2, this is where the problem is. Good Luck

Yeah, OK, thanks for that.

I gathered that, after doing some searching around.

The huge list of dependancies on glibc2.3 scares me to the point of (hopefully) just waiting for wine to become compatible with it.

I really hate to ruin this 9.1 install which took me so long to get together.

Thanks.

I can run counterstrike retail fine in mandrake 9.1

Once i got ride of the mandrake wine rpm and compiled the 8-apr-2003 snapshot.

This fixes the glibc problem.

i used native libraries as i have no windows, i edited the wine config by had to open a desktop window of 1024X768 when executing cstrike.exe (btw does anyone know how to get a 1152X864 window in wine?).

the command i used to start was: wine cstrike.exe -- cstrike.exe -dev -console

taken from the wine app database comments.

I have installed DOD mod and that works fine aswell.

So you should be able to use hl in this verison of wine or the current cvs should work too.

Has anyone tried to use this MOD:

http://www.dayofdefeatmod.com/indexmain.html

yes version 3.1 runs fine with wine 08042003 snapshot.

I also run natural selection mod fine as well.

I have the retail cs not hl btw.

edit oops well i haven't tried the newest version, will download it and give it a try.

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask just how well does HL/CS play on linux using WineX?

I'm talking speed, stability, etc...

I heard you can't play CS online using WineX, is that correct?

If this works for me then I would no longer need that partition I put aside for dual booting

Thanks
