mdg
I'm having a hard time getting msfonts to work in 9.1. I tried using the font import tool in MCC, but the fonts didn't appear anywhere. Then I tried copying them one by one, but I got the same result. I've downloaded Texstars fonts with Freetype (don't know if I need it or not) and installed them, but I'm still not seeing ttfonts anywhere. I made an entry in /etc/X11/fs/config pointing to the directory where the fonts are and restarted x, but still no luck I need some help, I'm getting tired of these ugly fonts everywhere I look edit: wrote the font path wrong
fuzzylizard
Your best bet is to download the msfonts files form texstar instead of the freetype files. It is the msfonts files that contain the m$ fonts. And each of the two rpm files worked great for me. Installed them, restarted any open programs and boom, all the ms fonts where available. mdg
iI've tried Texstars font files (msfonts and msfonts-styles), but after installing them, I still can't see ttfonts in any applications
bvc
you need freetype2, and Xft-2, as well as the fonts. Also for xft (AA) you need to put export QT_XFT=true export GDK_USE_XFT=1 in ~/.xinitrc or ~/.bashrc, or change the values in /etc/profile.d/gtk2.sh and .csh and qtxft3.sh and .csh to 1 instead of 0.
