Hi All,

I've been using Linux on my desktop successfully for almost 2 years. Recently I got myself a hp laptop, Compaq nx6320 and got it to run on 2006. Installation was with no error, urpmi database updated and kat removed(to reduce desktop hang). Now I need to figure out how the get the sound to work. The mute button is set at each time i boot into linux.

Searching thru' these pages I came to try < dmesg | grep hda_codecc> and < dmesg | grep codec> while running as root, both command yeild nothing. Going into MCC, I found that the sound card is Intel's I/O Controller Hub High Definition Audio. The driver is set to "snd-hda-intel [ALSA]". There is along list of other drivers available for me to try in MCC. Does anyone knows which will work for this laptop?

Hallis

I'm not at ease with windy my hd.

I have a Intel HDA card in my Toshiba laptop. The sound only works through the headphone sockets, and not through the speakers. I used Mandriva 2007 on this and it worked, and also with Ubuntu also.
