Guest G3ck0G33k
Hi I just installed Mdk 9.1. But, I can't get the non-English letters å, ä, or ö working in Midnight commander (mc). I just get tiny squares. I have tried changing my console's settings with different fonts etc. but to no avail. Any suggestions. And, yes, it used to work fine. Thanks for your help! :)
aru
Not sure about this one, but what does your 'locale' say? run "locale" in a term
Guest G3ck0G33k
Well, normally I use US English, my wife and childen use SE Swedish, and there has never been a problem before. Changing the locale to Swedish didn't help, alas. Midnight commander still doesn't show these letters. But the letters show up perfectly under the console's Settings > Fonts etc. Hrrrmmm... I can't think of any other setting to adjust.
aru
maybe you should take a look to your keyboard settings (man loadkeys). But I doubt that is the problem, my best bet is on locales (I had similar problems --I'm spanish-- which were all solved by choosing the right LC_SOMETHING)
mtweidmann
You also have to make sure the font you are using actual has images to represent the characters you want to use.
