The cable is noted in /proc/bus/usb/devices and a driver for it in /proc/bus/usb/drivers. When I reboot I get the following in the syslog: Mar 22 22:05:50 navigation network: Setting network parameters: succeeded Mar 22 22:05:50 navigation network: Bringing up loopback interface: succeeded Mar 22 22:05:50 navigation ifup: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-usb: line 25: [: !=: unary operator expected Mar 22 22:05:50 navigation ifup: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Broken pipe Mar 22 22:05:50 navigation ifup: netmask: Host name lookup failure Mar 22 22:05:51 navigation network: Bringing up interface usb0: succeeded Although it succeeded in bringing up the interface there is clearly a problem here. I do not think I have a gateway set as I did the bare minimum of configuration to keep it simple, and ignored internet access. When I can find the time and the enthusiasm I shall go back to square one, delete everything and start again. Guest tezca Posted April 9, 2003 Report Share Posted April 9, 2003 seems your eth0 interface is not working other wise youd gotten another set of info with ifconfig ifconfig eth0 shold be the name of your primary adapter ifconfig lo is just the name that your machine knows itself it is the loopback thats what the message is at boot what kind of ethercard do you have, you need a driver for it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
