Have Wireless netgear MA401 pcmcia (not the MA401RA orinoco compatable one) and a USR 22 mps card

USR card totally unreconized by Cooker or 9.0

Netgear recognized correctly -- green light comes on but as soon as I try and configure eth1 laptop computer hangs (mandrake 9.0)

On Mandrake 9.1 RC2 computer keeps continually beeping (pcmcia start double beep -- every 15 secs)

Computer is a laptop advent 7003

also get "Inssupported card in socket 0

product info O2Mmicro, SmartCardbus Reader V 1.0

Manfid 0xfff,0x0001

memory pcmcia_cs.0 not available

socket 1 anonymous memory

get dev info on socket 0/1 failed resource temporarily unavailable

executing modprobe -r memory_cs

modprobe can't locate module memory_cs

modprobe exited with status 255

then these messages keep repeating over and over again (both on mandrake 9 and mandrake 9.1)

I'm Windows free on my desktop but I must have network working on my laptop before I can ditch Windows on it as well.

Desktop RC2 9.1 -- I've had no problems hardware or software -- including DVD playing and TV viewing.

Laptop --- Ughhhhhhhhhh

(still I've got further than with SUSE which hangs even in the install phase as soon as it tried to deteect the pcmcia card --- even if you specify NO Hhardware detection)

This is a MAJOR problem -- for linux to be seriously used in daily work for a lot of people IT MUST WORK on laptops -- even rubbish ones. -- I'll never get another Advent laptop -- not because of Linux but other reasons).
