Just had to do a new install and for the love of god i can not get the 3d affects to work ive updated the graphics driver but that didnt help, whats wrong? it all worked well when i first installed 2007 (untill i installed the driver twice)

We will need a little more info here... which graphic's card do you have? When you say '3d affects' do you mean 'direct rendering'? Which drivers did you use and how did you install them? Can we see your xorg.conf / XF86Config file?

the graphic card i have is a nvidia 128mb gforce 4 and the 3d effects i was refering to were XGL or AIGLX so i get the cube back, the driver i used was the 9629 nvidia driver installed via mcc

Try replacing

Load "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so"

with just

 Load "glx"

Also remember to restart the X server before testing it again.

 

Are you just trying glxgears? Have youchecked anywhere else? Try the following for a sure-fire check:

 $ glxinfo |grep direct

(Hope I remembered all that correctly :P )
