papaschtroumpf
I removed my HS which held 2005LE, installed a new drive (300G) in the machine, booted from 2007 DVD I did "use free space" in the formatting options thinking that it would tell me what it did (but it didn't) It gave me the option to copy "CDs" from DVD to HD, which I did. Got to the package selection screen, selected more or lesseverything ecept I just select KDE, not the others. ---> it gives me a message that ther is not enough space to instlal all selected packages????? So I figured it screwed up on the formatting, so I reboot the computer, start the install over, and now after I accept the license and clcik next, I get a blank pane. "License" is sstilll highlighted on the side, "Security" should be next but it doesn;t quite seem to get there. why is it hanging? why did it get there the first time? how do I fix it? why did it tell me I didn't even have enough space on my HD? The bIOS sees it as 300G by the way
papaschtroumpf
looks like by defaul the installer picked ony 4G for the / partition which is not enough to install "everything". Still doesn't explain why it should hang though I had to go in fdisk and delete the partition table for it to get past the license stage
ianw1974
I've never used the use free space option, even when I installed Mandrake the first time. Prefer to control it myself with the "custom" option. No idea why it won't get past the license thing though. I'd suggest using custom partitioning instead. I never had this problem installing Mandriva 2007 on a 160GB hdd.
Phil Edwards
It gave me the option to copy "CDs" from DVD to HD, which I did. I remember that selecting this option when installing 2005LE caused exactly the symptoms you describe. Try to do an install without selecting this option.
