ab2ms
I'm just wondering if anyone can explain this. Some programs (ex. xmms) will only work with artsd running. as for many things I run I need to stop artsd. Turning it on and off is a pain, but that's what I have to do for my programs. What gives? any solutions, or do I just deal with it?
paul
I came to the conclusion that you have to deal with it :? or don't use KDE .. that fixed it for me
pmpatrick
At least in xmms, I beleive you have a choice of output plugin of arts or oss. You can find it in options>preferences. If you have arts selected, it obviously won't work if you've deactivated arts. On my box, the oss plugin works fine with with arts on or off so that's the one I use. Guest ndeb
In xmms, u can right click on its top bar. Go to options->preferences->audio i/o plugins. In output plugins, select OSS or ESD plugin.
gregor
Some programs (ex. xmms) will only work with artsd running. Set artsd to stop after one second.
