I tried to linux mandriva .

No working

So i used partition manager 7 to delete all partition

When I boot same kind of strange 1 1 1 appare to screen.

Seems that previous mandrivia installing wrote some kinde of forgotten information on the hard disk.

I wont just to renew hard disk to use with standard windows xp again

Does somebody tell me haw can do it ?

thanks

Best Reg

Welcome on board :)

I think the text you see is from the boot-loader, which is in the Master Boot Record of the primary disk, hence indeed a little "hidden". I don't have experience with this problem, but you should find something by looking for "restore windows MBR" here or on Google.

Good luck!

Yves.

AS Yves says the MBR is over written with the boot loader....

Since you have partition magic the easiest way to restore is probably just using boot manager which comes with partition manager as I remember.

You can also boot from a Windows install CD or bootable floppy and use

FDISK /MBR

this restores a windows boot partition...
