First i am new to linux new to Mandriva.

I got Mandriva 2007 installed the 4 CDs.

Now when i try to install superkaramba it says " must select packages first" I thought i did that by clicking on superkaramba and clicking on apply. So i try to delete it and to reinstall but the box is checked and green circle is on also. But i am unable to get it to work or find it anywhere on the computer??

Welcome to MUB B)

In this link artic reports that rpmdrake under Mandriva 2007 may have some problems. His suggestion is to use the command line (terminal) to install.

to install rpm xxx and it's dependencies (after typing su and giving the root password):

urpmi --keep xxx.rpm

It seems search does not work when you select install software. I searched for kdewebdev and nothing even though it has been added to media manager.

A urpmi kdewebdev-3.5.4-4mdv2007.0.i586 installs it so it does know where it is, it just don't show up in a search or on the list to install.

Any fix?

You can do from the console:

urpmf --name packagename

replace packagename with what you're looking for. Here is an example, I used "pdf":

[ian@europa ~]$ urpmf --name pdf
ghostscript-dvipdf
xpdf-tools
xpdf
kdegraphics-kpdf
acroread-nppdf
acroread-plugins-legalpdf
ghostscript-dvipdf
xpdf-tools
xpdf
pdftohtml
tetex-dvipdfm
docbook-utils-pdf
gcc-doc-pdf
glibc-doc-pdf
kdegraphics-kpdf
fax2pdf
gcc3.3-doc-pdf
gpdf
patriarche-pdf
patriarche-pdf-en
pdftk
php-pear-XML_fo2pdf
ppdfilt
libpdf1
libpdf1-devel
libpdf1-static-devel
php-pdf
libcpdf2-devel
libcpdf2-static-devel
libcpdf2

of course it lists all packages with pdf in the name. You can immediately disregard lib files since these are libraries, and will be pulled where necessary for the relative package you install.
