rogerh
Hello, Just upgraded from 10.0 to 2006 Free 3 days ago. Just started to get a frequent KDE fault, which seems to be related to Kat. Deleted Kat and fault seems to have stopped. Is Kat still an issue with 2006?? If so, hard to understand why it is still part of the default install. The overall Mandriva 2006 install is excellent and simple (even for a non-techie like me). Regards -- Roger
ianw1974
As far as I'm aware, kat was a waste of time. I've always removed it from my system on boot. The 2006 ISO's were not updated, but if you had of downloaded Mandrive One, which is basically 2006 on a LiveCD, it also had some packages updated. The 2006 ISO's are from when they were released end of last year, whereas the One CD came out later. Of course, you get more packages on the 2006 CD than the One CD as you get 3 x 2006 or 1 x DVD, the One CD is, well, only one CD :P Best way is to make sure you've applied all updates to your system - although I don't know if they resolved the resource-hungryness of kat. I binned it and never even checked to see if it got fixed. I doubt anyone else did either ;)
