plsoft
"Kernel Panic-Not syncing:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (3,9)" I get this error while booting Mandriva 2006 after trying to change the Grub Splash Image. Please tell me how to revert back to the default splash image, or solve it in other way.
ianw1974
You'll have to put your install disk in, press F1 and type "linux rescue" when prompted. Then you can choose the option for mounting the partitions, and at the command prompt type mount to find out where your partitions are mounted, then change to something like /mnt/boot/grub. You should have a menu.lst and a menu.lst~ file. The menu.lst~ file is the backup copy, so just do: cp menu.lst~ menu.lst and reboot and you're back to normal.
